In 1950, Commander Cousteau acquired an 8-year-old American minesweeper, modified and transformed it to a fully equipped oceanographic vessel. The Calypso was born. The maiden voyage took place in 1951 on the Red Sea, and since Commander Cousteau, his son Philippe and a team of explorers have carried out countless experiments and research on the underwater world, on the entire surface of the globe. The 42-metre-long, 360-tonne vessel is powered by two 600-horsepower diesel engines, with a maximum speed of 13 knots. It is equipped with a large number of special installations for research as well as films and photographs. The Billing Boats model was created according to the original plans and with the kind cooperation of the Cousteau Foundation. The construction box contains all the necessary equipment to build the model. ABS plastic shell. Wooden bridge and superstructure parts, brass fitting parts, saucer, helicopter, canoes and plastic platform, etc... Powered by 2 electric motors. 2-lane RC set not included.
