With their long dragonfly-shaped bodies, flaming exhaust nozzles, large upper fins and parachute-assisted stops, these iconic cars have long ignited the imagination of anyone who loves fast cars, good direct combat and a touch of madness. Drag racing – a battle of acceleration fought on a straight track – originated in the dry lakes of California in the 1930s. Regional and national drag and motorcycle racing championships have been held in the United States since the 1950s, and the sport has since spread to many countries around the world.

Named after the very rich air-fuel mixture composed of 90% nitromethane and methanol that powers the car's 11,000-horsepower engines (equivalent to the power of ten Formula 1 combined), a top fuel dragster consumes fuel at 11 gallons per second, the same burn rate as a Boeing 747 jet. Except that the dragster's engine is four times more efficient! In a straight line, a state-of-the-art fuel dragster leaves the fastest Bugatti or Porsche far behind – there's not even competition. The quarter-mile record for top fuel dragsters is 3.6 seconds!

A simple glance at the Dragster Top Fuel Ugears is enough to understand that this is no ordinary toy car. The model is driven by a powerful spring motor and a set of gears that transmits power via the crankshaft and drive belt (an elastic band passing through a roller tensioner) to the rear wheels, which are equipped with special silicone seals for better grip. This wooden model is equipped with an on/off button, variable driving modes and is able to right on its rear tires during takeoff, just like a real dragster. The Top Fuel Dragster has an open "skeleton" body, revealing the beauty and amazing internal mechanics of this car.

To operate the mock-up, make sure the "On/Off" switch is set to the "Off" position, then turn the non-removable winding knob on the back of the dragster a dozen times clockwise. Place the dragster on the ground and, while holding it with one hand, toggle the "On/Off" button to "On" and then release. Because this is Ugears, and because we like to include realistic details that add a "Wow!" factor, in the "Off" position, the air intake flaps are closed and in the "On" position, they open!

The engine of true top fuel dragsters have a life cycle of only 3 minutes, including preheating. After each 4-second run they are dismantled, inspected and cleaned; damaged or worn parts are replaced (clutch, pistons, connecting rods, rings, spark plugs); and the engine is completely rebuilt in about 40 minutes, to be ready for the next race.
