London's 'Big Ben' is only the third tallest clock tower in Britain, but as an icon of global architecture and an instant vector of a place, it is second to none. The Palace of Westminster's clock tower, colloquially known as "Big Ben," was later renamed "Elizabeth Tower" in honor of Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
