The 5th generation Stealth Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter was designed to perform air superiority, close air support and ground attack missions.
It is available in three main versions. Thanks to its STOVL capabilities (short take-off and vertical landing), the F-35B can operate from aircraft carriers. Mainly used by the U.S. Marine Corps, it also entered service with the British RAF and the Italian Marina Militare.
