The first sketches of the VGD Project (Car for Mass Production) date back to 1945. The CITROËN DS 19 was presented at the 42nd Paris Motor Show on October 6, 1955. New materials: plastic, light alloys, and cutting-edge techniques: hydropneumatic suspension for 4 independent wheels, were put to use in a revolutionary aesthetic, which would divide France in two: the "for" and the "against".
