The Porsche 928 was unveiled in Geneva in March 1977. It was intended to replace the 911 and was designed to possess "all the qualities and performance of previous Porsches" while also meeting all conceivable future government regulations. The United States absorbed approximately fifty percent of Porsche's total production, and the 928 went on sale there in 1978 at a price of $26,000.
