The RENAULT 4 cv is presented at the first Paris show of the post-war period, in October 1946. Ebauchée under shelling, completed in a France still rationed, the small "car for all" the engineer Ferdinand Picard will be the vehicle of the newfound freedom and a better life. Both family and urban, small road robust, sober and not expensive, the 4CV will be the first French car to exceed the one million of units produced: 1 105 547 in 14-year career.
