JV (Jagdverband) 44 was an elite Luftwaffe unit formed in February 1945 equipped with Messerschmitt Me262s and Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9s that protected Me262s under threat from Allied fighters during take-off and landing. Because of its performance, the Citroën Traction 11CV was prized by German forces (including the Luftwaffe) who used it as a staff car.
