Build this wonderful Lisboa tram model kit step by step. It will allow you to spend long and enjoyable hours of creative leisure building a faithful replica of the original tram with all the railway details .
"This tram was part of the 701/735 series of the Compañia de Carris de Ferro de Lisboa which built them between 1936 and 1940.
Considered the safest in Lisbon thanks to their reinforced braking system, these trams covered lines with challenging routes such as 12, 25, and 28, which included gradients of up to 12%. These trams were also the most robust in the world operating on single-adhesion tracks.
This vehicle is equipped with five types of brakes: pneumatic, mechanical, electric, electromagnetic with pads and mechanical on the pads.
It incorporates two powerful Metropolitan Vickers electric motors of 45 HP each and a Brill 21-E type truck built by Maley & Tauton.
Its bodywork corresponds to the standard Lisbon type, which originated from the American designs of the Brill company. Its main characteristic lies in its widely domed roof.
It retained its original state until the renovation that the series underwent between 1985 and 1987 during which pneumatic doors and turn signals were installed and the doors were closed on one side in order to adapt it to the single agent (driver/conductor) system.
These trams began to be withdrawn from service starting in 1995 in order to replace them with refurbished vehicles from the 500 series. That said, several units continue to operate as part of charter services and to provide occasional reinforcements to the regular service.
Get excited and let yourself be transported back to the time when these wonderful trams ran through the streets.
