The FTX Hydrocat is a 40cm Ready-to-Run RC catamaran boat equipped with turbojet propulsion, a water-cooled brushless motor, and a 3S 11.1V 2000mAh Li-ion battery. Available in blue (FTX0800B) or white (FTX0800W) , it comes with a 2.4GHz radio system and USB charger.
The FTX Hydrocat is a 40cm electric Ready-to-Run radio-controlled boat designed for enjoying the thrill of speed on calm waters. This RC speedboat features a catamaran -style twin-float hull, a water-cooled brushless motor, and integrated turbojet propulsion. The model is available in blue (reference FTX0800B) or white (reference FTX0800W ).
Its complete equipment allows it to be launched after charging the battery and installing four AA batteries in the transmitter. The boat, 2.4 GHz radio control, 3S Li-ion battery, and USB charger are included. The Hydrocat is therefore a ready-to-sail solution for discovering brushless RC boats or adding to a collection of electric watercraft.
Turbojet propulsion replaces the traditional external propeller. Water is drawn in under the hull, then accelerated and expelled through a nozzle to create thrust. This propeller-free design protects the propulsion system from direct contact and reduces exposure to vegetation or floating debris. Jet propulsion is particularly well-suited for use on lakes, canals, reservoirs, and other calm waters.
The Hydrocat is powered by a water-cooled brushless motor. In an electric RC model, a brushless motor works with an electronic speed controller (ESC) to manage throttle and speed. Here, the 20A waterproof brushless ESC drives the propulsion, while water cooling ensures smooth operation during sustained cruising. The advertised speed exceeds 30 km/h.
The twin-tube catamaran hull provides a wide stance on the water. This design is engineered to contribute to stability at high speeds while maintaining agile handling in wide turns. Steering is handled by a 9g waterproof servo. The electronics are housed in a waterproof compartment, and a low battery alarm alerts the driver when it's necessary to return the boat before the battery is depleted.
The 2.4 GHz proportional radio control allows for precise control of acceleration and steering. This radio technology is commonly used in RC modeling for accurate vehicle control. The advertised control range can reach 250 m under suitable conditions. The included 11.1 V, 2000 mAh 3S Li-ion battery provides up to 10 minutes of advertised flight time.
Compact, the FTX Hydrocat measures 400 mm long, 130 mm wide, and 95.5 mm high. Its size makes it easy to transport to the boating site while maintaining a realistic presence on the water. To preserve the equipment, it is recommended to sail in an open area, check the battery charge before each outing, and rinse and dry the boat after use in fresh water.
