The Fifie is a fishing boat developed on the east coast of Scotland. It was used by Scottish fishermen from 1850 until the twentieth century, before many were equipped with an engine. These boats were designed for herring fishing, using driftnets.
They are characterized by vertical bows and sterns, a long straight keel and a wide bau, attributes that made these boats very stable in the water and allowed them a very large sail, but the long keel made them difficult to maneuver in small ports.
This kit of the Fifie is based on a recent version, equipped with a propeller engine. The model can be designed for exposure, so as a static model, or for navigation.
Be careful, the engine kit is not included in the box.
