Named after the extremely rich air-fuel mixture, composed of 90% nitromethane and methanol, that powers the car's 11,000-horsepower engines (equivalent to the combined power of ten Formula 1 cars), a top-fuel dragster consumes fuel at a rate of 11 gallons per second—the same combustion rate as a Boeing 747 jet, except the dragster's engine is four times more efficient! The model is powered by a powerful spring-driven motor and a gear system that transmits power via the crankshaft and drive belt (an elastic band running over a roller tensioner) to the rear wheels, which are fitted with special silicone seals for enhanced traction. This wooden model features an on/off switch, various driving modes, and can even right itself on its rear tires during takeoff, just like a real dragster. The Top Fuel Dragster has an open, skeleton-style body, revealing the beauty and amazing internal mechanics of this racing machine.

To operate the model, ensure the "On/Off" switch is set to the "Off" position, then turn the fixed winding knob on the rear of the dragster a dozen times clockwise. Place the dragster on the ground and, while holding it with one hand, flip the "On/Off" switch to "On," then release. Because this is Ugears, and because we like to include realistic details that add a "Wow!" factor, the air intake flaps are closed in the "Off" position and open in the "On" position!

The engines of real top fuel dragsters have a lifespan of just 3 minutes, including preheating. After each 4-second run, they are disassembled, inspected, and cleaned; damaged or worn parts are replaced (clutch, pistons, connecting rods, piston rings, spark plugs); and the engine is completely rebuilt in about 40 minutes, ready for the next run.
