In 1489, the greatest polymath the world had ever known drew a project for an "aerial screw", or "helical rotor". Da Vinci's dream of mechanical flight is not only the first design of a helicopter, it gave birth to the entire field of aeronautics. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the first machines capable of taking off from the ground were invented, paving the way for today's helicopters: aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically, gliding through the air and flying forward, backward and sideways.

The Ugears Mini Helicopter is the first helicopter model in our Smart collection, joining the Mini Biplane, Mad Hornet, Steampunk Airship and Aviator models (with interchangeable airplane and helicopter components) in our family of fabulous Ugears flying devices. The open design makes it possible to visualize all aspects of this do-it-yourself helicopter model. This 3D flying tourbillon is packed with realistic details, including a rotating rotor mast and main rotor, a spinning tail rotor, a two-seater cockpit with cyclic stick controls, opening doors, an adjustable spotlight at the front, retractable rear wheels, landing skids, and a helipad on which you can rest your model.

To set your Ugears Mini Helicopter in motion, set the on/off switch to the "Off" position, turn the silent ratchet wrench several times to wind the bungee motor, lower the rear wheels, lay the model on a flat surface, then hold it gently while you flip the switch to "On", release and watch your 3D puzzle helicopter whizz forward for about 1.5m. Admire the superb realism of this rotating main rotor! When not in operation, you can land your helicopter on the provided helipad for an attractive static display.

With 167 parts, this is an easy model to build but the exceptional Ugears design allows this do-it-yourself helicopter to always have that "Wow" side. To build your model, simply detach the pieces from the quality composite wood planks and snap them together following the illustrated instructions provided. Be sure to sand and lubricate all moving parts using the sandpaper and wax provided, and "develop" the moving parts by performing several tests before final assembly, for optimal operation of the Mini Helicopter.
