The Niña was part of the expedition that included the Pinta and the Santa Maria on the voyage that, according to Christopher Columbus, was supposed to take him to India. Instead, he discovered the New World (America). The Niña, like the Pinta, was owned by the Pinzón brothers. This caravel measured 40 tons. For this expedition, it was commanded by Vicente Yáñez Pinzón, the youngest of the three brothers, and had a crew of 18 men.
