The Fiat 508 "Balilla" is the most popular car produced in Italy in the 30s. In June 1937, the new 508C "Balilla", equipped with a 4-cylinder engine of 1,100 cc, was introduced to the automotive market. In addition, the new 508C was used as a platform for the development of vehicles for military applications, such as the Fiat 508 CM "Colonial". Characterized by a 2-wheel drive, a length of 3.6 meters and the reliable 1,100cc 4-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 32 hp that allowed it to reach 90 km / h, the Fiat "Coloniale" was mainly used for the movement of officers and for the operations of the HQ in North Africa. However, the overall strength of the vehicle, the larger size of the tires and the good reliability of the mechanics allowed the Fiat "Coloniale" to be suitable for advanced off-road reconnaissance missions.
