The VBCI (Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle) provides transport, protection and support to infantry fighting groups and their means of command. The VBCI deployed in Afghanistan since April 2010 are characterized by specific equipment, including anti-RPG protective nets and a mine box under the chassis. In June 2012, 400 of the 630 VBCI in VCI (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and VPC (Command Post Vehicle) versions were delivered.
