1/35 scale model of Italeri's 1/35 scale Tiger I Normandie tank reference 6754.
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I is certainly one of the most famous battle tanks of the Second World War. It was developed to equip the Wehrmacht's armoured divisions with a heavily armoured and heavily armed main battle tank to accompany the Panzer III and Panzer IV medium tanks, which were the most common but dominated by enemy tanks. The 88mm KwK 36 L/56 long-range anti-tank gun installed in the turret and protected by a 120 mm thick shield, was capable of piercing, even at a long distance, the armor of any enemy tank of the time. It was deployed to all major theatres of operations and actively participated in German military operations in Normandy and on the Western Front. Although handicapped by reliability and usability problems, this heavy tank, in the hands of experienced crews, was extremely feared by the Allied forces.
