In July 1941, the Willys Overland won the contract for a light all-terrain, multi-purpose vehicle that was easy to drive, maintain and repair. An assembly of simple, necessary and sufficient shapes, the jeep was born: an almost timeless vehicle with a real "look". Its characteristic silhouette will criss-cross all theaters of operations. Present from the first day on the beaches of the D-Day landings of June 1944, it was then, in the minds of the population, associated with the Liberation.
