The Pz.Kpfw.I was the first mass-produced tank by Germany since the armor restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles after World War I. The Ausf.A variant of 1934 was followed in 1936 by the improved Ausf.B version, whose engine power increased from 57 to 100 hp, as well as a chassis that was about 40 centimeters longer. He was armed with two MG13 machine guns, fired by the tank commander. Although initially intended for training, the Pz.Kpfw.I participated in the Spanish Civil War from 1936, then in the German invasions of Poland (1939), France (1940) and the Balkans (1941), and even in the ill-fated invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941.
