The Tamiya 35393 Schwimmwagen Type 166 Wide Wheel Version is a 1/35 scale plastic military model kit. It reproduces the famous German light amphibious vehicle of World War II in a configuration with 200 mm wide tires, designed to improve its capabilities on rough terrain. The finished model measures 113 mm long and 42 mm wide .

The Schwimmwagen Type 166 was a multi-purpose vehicle with a watertight, welded sheet-metal monocoque body. Powered by a 1,130 cc, air-cooled, four-cylinder engine producing 25 hp, it could reach speeds of approximately 80 km/h on roads and 10 km/h on water. Its ability to overcome obstacles on land and water allowed it to be used in a variety of missions by the German forces, particularly within engineering units and paratrooper formations.

This Tamiya model kit meticulously recreates the vehicle's distinctive silhouette, particularly its lower, box-shaped, slide-molded section. The suspension and four-cylinder engine are depicted in detail.
