The Italeri 90290 Pz.Kpfw. V Panther Ausf. D model kit reproduces, at 1/35 scale, one of the first operational versions of the famous German Panther medium tank from World War II. This military tank kit allows you to build a Panther Ausf. D with an assembled length of 24.7 cm . It is rated as difficulty level 4 by Italeri.
The Panzerkampfwagen V Panther was developed to counter the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks encountered on the Eastern Front, whose performance and armament had highlighted the limitations of the Panzer III and Panzer IV then in service with the German army. The Panther combined sloped frontal armor, high mobility, and powerful anti-tank armament. It was powered by a 700-horsepower Maybach V12 engine and equipped with the high-velocity 75 mm KwK 42 gun.
Deployed in the main European theaters of operation, notably in Italy, France, and on the Eastern Front, the Panther became one of the most iconic tanks of the conflict. The Ausf. D variant was the first version to enter operational service. It thus provides a particularly interesting subject for creating historical scenes and dioramas dedicated to armored combat in the Second World War.
This Italeri model kit includes elements designed to enhance the presentation of the finished vehicle. The glue-on rubber tracks replicate the tank's running gear, while the photo-etched sheet provides fine metal parts. Photo-etching is commonly used in model making to accurately represent details whose thickness must remain very small at scale.
The kit also includes decals for four versions , offering several decoration options. Assembly instructions are provided in color. Italeri specifically indicates black, dark green, rubber, gunmetal, Panzer Dunkelgelb 1943, Panzer Olivgrün 1943, Schokobraun RAL 8017, rust, white, and wood to complement the model's painting.
At 1/35 scale, this Panther Ausf. D can be included in a collection of German World War II armored vehicles or in a diorama combining vehicles, figures, terrain elements, and military accessories adapted to this scale. The box measures 373 x 241 x 60 mm .
