The Renault 4CV was presented at the first post-war Paris Motor Show in October 1946. Conceived amidst the bombings and completed in a France still subject to rationing, engineer Ferdinand Picard's small "car for everyone" became the vehicle of newfound freedom and a better life. At once a family car and a city car, a robust, economical, and inexpensive road car, the 4CV was the first French automobile to surpass the one million mark in production: 1,105,547 in its 14-year run.
