The M10 IIC Achilles is a British fighter tank derived from the American M10. The original 3-inch gun was replaced by the powerful British 17 pounder gun. The vast majority of Achilles were M10 IIC resulting from the conversion of late production M10 characterized by their largest turret neck counterweight. About 1,000 copies were produced between the spring of 1944 and the end of the 2nd M.M., with the Allies making great use of it after the Normandy landings. The 17 pounder cannon could pierce the frontal armour of a Tiger.
