On April 13, 1966, Boeing Aircraft Company launched the 747. Leader of a new generation of aircraft, the Boeing 747 outperforms its elder 707 by its passenger capacity and its somewhat colossal dimensions. By ushering in a new and promising era, the Boeing 747 is considered a reference aircraft in the evolution of air transport. The 747-100 was released in 1969, carrying 366 passengers over 8560 km, and remains among the largest commercial aircraft today. The 747-200 was released in 1971.
