Air France's A380s are equipped with GP7200 engines manufactured by Engine Alliance, producing 311 kN of thrust. This engine configuration allows the A380 to fly at over 900 km/h despite its considerable weight.
The various components of the aircraft are manufactured at sixteen sites across Europe (plus one site in Indonesia and another in India). The assemblies are then brought together at the Toulouse-Blagnac site for final assembly.
The first two aircraft entered service at the end of 2009, with serial number "F-HPJA" being the first to receive the brand-new "Air France" livery that would later adorn the entire fleet. At that time, Airbus Industrie had 24 Air France A380s on firm order.
