1/48 scale F/A-18F Super Hornet model from Italeri reference 2823.
The Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet is a modern single-seat twin-engine carrier-based fighter directly derived from the original McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet project. Wider and heavier than its predecessor, it features significantly improved performance and combat capabilities. Recognizable by the shape of the wings, which provide great maneuverability, the air intakes and the enlarged fins, it entered service with the U.S. Navy in the early 2000s to replace the F-14 Tomcat and carry out air defense missions for the fleet. With a long range and significantly improved avionics, it is armed with a 20mm M61 cannon and can carry an air-to-air and air-to-ground offensive payload. Two versions were produced, the single-seat F/A-18E and the two-seat F/A-18F. The aircraft's high operational flexibility allows it to effectively carry out fleet air defense, ground attack, close support, and interdiction missions.
