EA-18G Growler 1/48 scale model from Italeri reference 2824.
The Boeing E/A-18G Growler was designed to meet a specific U.S. Navy need for an airborne electronic warfare aircraft to replace the obsolete Grumman EA-6B Prowler. The Growler is directly derived from the F/A-18 F Super Hornet two-seat fighter and retains all of its main aerodynamic characteristics, flight behavior and virtually all of its performance with a top speed of Mach 1.8. The crew consists of the pilot and a WSO (Weapon System Officer) in charge of navigation and electronic combat systems, some of which occupy the location of the abandoned F/A-18's 20mm cannon. In addition, fuselage and wing pylons can accommodate additional fuel tanks and high- and low-band jamming pods.
