The study of the DC 6 was launched during World War II for the U.S. Air Force's long-haul military freighter needs. It was converted into a civilian transport aircraft in the immediate post-war period, receiving the necessary equipment to carry 52 to 68 passengers, and a pressurized cabin. UNITED AIR LINES, was the first airline to receive the DC 6 in April 1947. Two hundred and eighty-six DC 6Bs were built until 1958. The Heller variant presented here is a DC-6B "What if", as it could have been at Air France.
