The P.Z.L. 23 was designed to be a long-range reconnaissance and day and night bombing aircraft. It could be used for combat and attacking ground objectives. The prototype of the KARAS flew for the first time on August 24, 1934. The P-23 A version entered the unit in June 1936 and the next type, the P-23 B, entered service in the fall of 1936.
