Beautiful A-26B Invader aircraft in 1/72 scale from Italeri reference 1274.
The twin-engine A-26 Invader ground attack aircraft designed and produced by Douglas has enjoyed extraordinary operational longevity. The first examples joined the front during World War II in 1944, and the later versions participated in all the major conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s, such as Korea and Indochina, up to the Vietnam War. The most widely produced version was the heavily armed "B" version. The forward tip housed between 6 and 8 Browning M2 12.7mm machine guns. Thanks to its robust structure, it was possible to install 20mm and 37mm guns or even a 75mm howitzer in the nose of the Invader. The two 2,000hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines allowed the Invader to reach speeds of 570km/h even when fully loaded.
