It was in 1950 that the Boeing firm began the study of a four-engine of both civil and military vocation. On May 14, 1954, the 367-80 (Dash 80 - dash 80 - in English) left the Boeing factory in Renton, the first flight of which took place on July 15. This prototype will be used for the joint development of the KC-135 air-to-air refueling and the well-known civilian Boeing 707. On October 15, Pan American ordered its first 6 jets, Boeing 707-121s. Subsequently, the Boeing 707 was developed in parallel with the different versions C 135 and 137 military, to give the series 200, then 300, very different. Built in nearly 1000 copies, the Boeing 707 embodies the beginnings of contemporary air transport. Solid and reliable, this aircraft was a very popular aircraft, both with its crews and passengers. Air France's Boeing 707s have been given castle names. They were normally planned to accommodate 134 passengers divided into two classes. The "Château de Vincennes" was the second of 29 ordered by the French national company.
