Douglas C-47 Dakota 1/72 Heller

The Douglas DC-3 and its military variant Douglas C-47 and Douglas Dakota was a type of aircraft that was built from 1935 onwards in about 10,655 examples in the original version and 5,424 examples under license. A total of 16,079 examples were manufactured, of which 607 were civilian and 15,472 were military. This is to date the second highest number built for an airliner or transport aircraft. The military versions Douglas C-47 (US Air Force) or Douglas Dakota (Royal Air Force) became famous in Germany, with the nickname "Rosinenbomber", during the Berlin Airlift. The DC-3 was an evolution of the DC-1, of which only a prototype had been built, with a first flight on July 1, 1933. During World War II, the DC-3 was used as a transport aircraft, tow plane, medical aircraft, and passenger aircraft. In the U.S. Armed Forces, it had many names and names, including C-41, C-47, C-48, C-49, C-50, C-51, C-52, C-53, C-68, C-84, C-117, Skytrain, Skytrooper and in the U.S. Navy it was called R4D. In the Royal Air Force, the aircraft was used under the name "Dakota".
