HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant 1/72 Helicopter Model Kit - Italeri 91035

The Italeri 91035 HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant is a 1/72 scale model of an American military helicopter. It reproduces the Sikorsky HH-53C, a combat search and rescue version of the CH-53 Sea Stallion family. The finished model measures 28.4 cm in length and is intended for modelers with a skill level corresponding to Italeri's difficulty level 3.

This kit allows you to build an iconic US Air Force helicopter used from the late 1960s, notably during the Vietnam War. It comes with a Super Decal sheet offering four different markings, as well as a full-color instruction booklet. Figures are not included.

The HH-53C Super Jolly Green Giant (actual)

Developed by Sikorsky from the heavy CH-53 Sea Stallion, the HH-53C Jolly Green Giant was designed for CSAR ( Combat Search and Rescue) operations. These missions aimed to find and recover downed or isolated crews in combat zones, in coordination with other aircraft involved in the operation.

Compared to earlier versions, the HH-53C was distinguished by its in-flight refueling capability via a dedicated probe, additional fuel tanks, and enhanced protection. Its radio equipment also facilitated coordination with tanker aircraft, attack helicopters, and other support aircraft. Its robustness and range made it a particularly suitable platform for long-duration rescue missions in challenging operational environments.
