The Dassault Rafale was designed primarily to replace the French SEPECAT Jaguars and Navy F-8 Crusaders. Its first flight was on July 4, 1986. The first production Rafale aircraft flew for the first time on December 4, 1998, and was delivered to the French Air Force. The Rafale family comprises three different versions. This single-seat aircraft for the French Air Force is a multirole combat aircraft with fully integrated weapons and navigation systems, utilizing the latest technologies. It is capable of exceptional performance against a variety of aerial targets in both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions, taking it deep behind enemy lines.
