When the new little Renault appeared at the Paris Motor Show at the end of 1961, it was a small revolution! The diamond manufacturer unveils a new concept, a new way of approaching the automobile. Everything in the Renault 4 is revolutionary for a car in its segment. There is an economical four-cylinder with a maintenance-free sealed cooling circuit, front-wheel drive (a first at Renault on a passenger car), a platform on which the body is bolted, four wheels with independent suspension.
