The Société des automobiles DELAHAYE, one of the oldest French automobile brands, was created in 1845 by Emile DELAHAYE. The company introduced its first vehicle in 1894. The diversity of the firm's production covered a wide range of vehicles ranging from agricultural machinery to firefighting equipment, passenger cars and racing cars. The success of Delahaye automobiles was due of course to the technical options chosen and their qualities, but also to its technical director, Charles WEFFEINBACH, who was able to rationalize the methods to be applied to series production lines. This "Grande Echelle" is in fact a DELAHAYE Type 103 chassis of model 1937 equipped with a 26-meter MAGIRUS ladder made entirely of metal. Specially commissioned by the Principality of Monaco, this one-of-a-kind example was delivered in 1939 to the Monaco Fire Brigade. It remained in service until around 1968/69, when it was acquired by the municipality of BONNEVILLE (Haute-Savoie). The Musée des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Haute-Savoie now preciously preserves it (217, route du Moulin de la Glacière - Domaine de Guidou, 74 140 SCIEZ).
