The Porsche 928 was presented in Geneva in March 1977. The latter was to replace the 911 and was to have "all the qualities and performance of previous Porsches" and to adapt to all conceivable government regulations in the future. The United States accounts for about fifty percent of the total production of Porsches, and it began trading there in 1978 at a price of $26,000.
