The Citroën type H van was used by many sectors and craft companies. Thus, it was also used for the delivery of farm products and the trailer made it possible to transport even more items to customers or to the city to the market. The H type could carry 1200 kg of goods for a volume of 7.3 m3. It was designed by Pierre Franchiset, to whom it owes its name, the "H", as it was the eighth project of its kind developed by Citroën, the "H" also being the eighth letter of the alphabet. It was introduced to the public in 1947 and during its long production period (34 years), more than 473,000 examples were built. Farmers and many other sectors used the Citroën HY, because they almost always had something to transport, whether it was wood, paving stones, hedge or grass trimmings, tools or machinery. The trailer could be pulled by vans, as well as tractors, and was therefore ideal for everyday use. The lashing hooks attached to the sides made it possible to secure the load with ropes or straps. Adapted side panels and a rear hatch transformed the trailer into a reliable auxiliary vehicle in the blink of an eye.
