By 1944, the tide of the war had truly changed, and Germany found itself in retreat on all fronts. Its forces, already weakened by five years of fierce fighting, were being pushed further and further back towards the borders of the Third Reich. By 1945, the borders of the homeland itself were being crossed by Allied units, both east and west. Dragon's latest inspiring 1:35 scale miniature set depicts four German soldiers tasked with defending the country in 1944-1945.

The quartet is distinguished by the variety of its uniforms, equipment, and weapons. They no longer wore the neat and well-cut field gray uniforms of the Blitzkrieg period. Instead, the soldiers in this series wear camouflage smocks, Fallschirmjager jumpsuits, and even a special Hitler Jugend ("Hitler Youth") winter uniform. Their weapons collection also reflects the frenzy of the late war. These include an MP 44 assault rifle, a Kar 98k rifle, a Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle, and an FG 42 rifle, used by elite paratroopers. The HJ member also carries a Panzerfaust 100m, a single-shot anti-tank rocket that was mass-produced from September 1944. These varied figures offer unlimited utility to diorama and vignette creators. Accurately sculpted in lifelike poses, these well-documented figurines reflect the desperate final months of World War II.
