Tamiya Nissan R91CP 1/10 2WD RC Kit - 47531
The Tamiya 47531 is a 1/10 scale electric RC kit reproducing the Nissan R91CP, winner of the 1992 24 Hours of Daytona. It combines a detailed polycarbonate body with a 2WD chassis with direct drive, ball differential, foam tires and Sport-Tuned motor included.
The Tamiya 47531 Nissan R91CP is a 1/10 scale electric radio-controlled car kit inspired by the Nissan R91CP endurance prototype. This limited edition combines a low-profile racing body with a 2WD direct-drive chassis designed for precise and direct handling. The kit includes a Sport-Tuned motor, a ball differential, foam tires, and suspension tuned for track use.
The Nissan R91CP is a sports endurance prototype that won the All-Japan Sports Prototype Championship in 1991 before triumphing at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1992. Its aerodynamic silhouette, imposing rear wing, and wide track made it one of the most iconic Group C cars of its era. Tamiya captures this identity with a body faithful to the flowing lines of the real car.
The bodywork is made of lightweight and durable polycarbonate. It incorporates the characteristic visual elements of the R91CP, including a rear-mounted air intake pod, an aerodynamic driver-side mirror, and a separately molded windshield wiper. The headlights are also supplied as separate polycarbonate components. The included decal sheet allows for the addition of sponsor logos, the race number, and finishing details. Masks are provided for the windows and headlights.
The detailed cockpit provides a particularly realistic presentation for this RC racing car. It includes a steering wheel, gear shift, and a driver figure with three customizable markings. At the rear, the large wing is constructed from plastic supports, a main wing, and polycarbonate side fins.
The chassis is built on an ABS tub, complemented by front and rear space frames and an FRP plate. This composite architecture forms a rigid base while maintaining a suspension capable of accommodating chassis movements. Direct drive to the rear wheels eliminates unnecessary transmission components between the motor and the drive axle: the motor is mounted transversely and drives the spur gear, which is equipped with a ball differential.
The ball differential helps distribute power between the rear wheels in corners and provides limited wheel slip. The steering uses a two-piece tie rod. At the front, the independent suspension with pivots and coil springs is paired with an upper space frame that reinforces the front end. Two front ride height positions are available thanks to the use of spacers.
At the rear, the rigid three-point suspension uses a 1.5 mm FRP T-bar and a CVA hydraulic shock absorber. Three rear ride height settings are available. The lightweight, high-grip foam tires are wider at the rear, in keeping with the typical setup of a rear-wheel-drive racing prototype. The five-spoke, one-piece front wheels feature decals replicating the Goodyear and Eagle logos.
This Tamiya Nissan R91CP kit is aimed at fans of RC on-road cars, Group C prototypes, and vintage Tamiya models. Its 1/10 scale and 270mm wheelbase make it ideal for smooth surfaces suitable for foam tires. The build also allows you to discover the principles of a 2WD direct-drive chassis, a configuration known for its simple mechanical layout and responsive handling.
To finalize the model and make it run, you will need a 2-channel radio system with electronic speed controller, R6/AA/UM3 batteries for the transmitter, a propulsion battery pack and a compatible charger.
