The Tamiya 58760 BMW M3 Sport EVO Jägermeister 1992 is a 1/10 scale electric radio-controlled car kit. This kit reproduces the BMW M3 Sport EVO entered by Team Linder in its famous Jägermeister livery, mounted on the TT-02 road chassis with 4x4 shaft drive.

The BMW M3 Sport EVO racing car

In 1992, the BMW M3 Sport EVO competed in the German Touring Car Championship and engaged in numerous battles against rival Mercedes. The real car used a 2.5-liter, 16-valve, twin-cam, inline four-cylinder engine producing over 350 hp. Both factory and private teams raced this model, including the Team Linder, reproduced here by Tamiya.

This generation of BMW M3 is renowned for its distinctive styling: angular bodywork, flared wheel arches, pronounced aerodynamic elements, and a low-slung touring car stance. Its Jägermeister orange livery, complemented by the markings included in the kit, makes it a prime addition to any vintage RC, DTM, or touring car collection.

Detailed BMW M3 Sport EVO bodywork

The lightweight bodywork is made of polycarbonate and replicates the shape of the BMW M3 Sport EVO, including the widened fenders and front spoiler. It incorporates several added elements that enhance the realism of the reproduction:

• front grille in two parts;
• aerodynamic rearview mirrors with separate mirror surfaces;
• added rear wing with representation of the Gurney flap type profile;
• Jägermeister decoration using the included stickers;
• Masks included for finishing the bodywork.

The taillights and exhaust outlets are reproduced using stickers. The grille can also accommodate two 5mm white LEDs, available separately, to create headlight lighting.

The model is equipped with silver mesh wheels paired with semi-pneumatic slick tires. This combination completes the BMW's racing look and captures the spirit of the competition touring cars reproduced by the kit.

Tamiya TT-02 chassis: 4x4 shaft drive

The TT-02 is a bucket-seater chassis with a longitudinal motor. Its design places the battery on the left side and the motor on the right. The shaft-driven all-wheel drive distributes power to all four wheels and contributes to smooth handling on tracks or flat surfaces suitable for road-going RC cars.

The chassis uses four-satellite plastic bevel gear differentials front and rear, a three-part tie rod steering system, and four independent double wishbone suspension wheels. Friction dampers are fitted front and rear. The steering joints use resin ball joints for smooth operation.

The TT-02 is designed for easy assembly and maintenance thanks to the use of identical suspension arms and steering knuckles on both sides, as well as easily accessible transmission housings. The wheel hubs are shaped like brake discs, while the front bumper brackets contribute to the chassis's mechanical styling.

Settings and configuration

The TT-02 chassis offers two wheelbase options, two ground clearance settings, and two track configurations. Its transmission comes standard with an 8.27:1 reduction ratio. With separately available sprockets, nine other ratios are possible, ranging from 11.38:1 to 7.28:1. These options allow the transmission to be adapted to the type of driving and the installed motor, provided the components are compatible.

The kit includes a Type 540 electric motor and an electronic speed controller (ESC). In an electric RC car, the ESC controls the motor speed and braking via the radio transmitter. A 2-channel radio allows for separate control of steering and acceleration.
