The Monta'es represents the highest degree of perfection ever achieved by Spanish naval architecture, allowing our ships to compete against other navies in the world.
The figurehead of this ship was not the royal lion, but a Monta'és as a thank you for the economic contribution made by the mountaineers in the construction of the ship.
The Boat was released on 14 May 1794 in Ferrol. It is reported that he possessed extraordinary properties both when he was sailing with a bouline, a drop or a wind in his sails, and that he kept his batteries out of the water better than any other ship.
He took part in several missions, including Trafalgar, where he brought artillery of 76 guns and 4 caronades with shells placed on the dunette. It sank on March 6, 1810, in front of the Bay of Cadiz, because of a violent storm.
