The frigate Diana was launched on March 10, 1792. She was part of a series of frigates known as "Mahonesas," built in the city of Mahón. Thanks to their design, they were faster than their predecessors. She participated in the war against France off the Catalan coast. Her home port was Cádiz during the War of Independence.

An integral part of Havana's naval forces, it participated in battles against the corsairs of the Antilles. It made several transatlantic crossings. In 1833, it was dismantled at the Cartagena arsenal.
