There is a kind of fishing with an important tradition throughout the Mediterranean and especially on the Catalan coast. It is done with the help of boats with lighting, called "llum bots" (light canoes).

These 5-metre-long boats were most often led by two men. They were usually intended for mackerel and sardine fishing, but any fish or crustaceans attracted by the light of two large gas-fired light were caught.
One of the peculiarities of these canoes is their large stabilizers located on the sides, in order to avoid the swing due to the waves. In addition, the rudder rod is replaced by two ropes to maneuver it with the support of the headers.
