The new C2 contractive suspension eliminates the need for anti-roll bars, as it separates the control phases of the compression and extension of the spring, making each wheel more independent.
The extension is controlled by the use of a second spring, which is used in opposition to the main spring. Compression uses only the stiffness of the main spring, while extension uses the sum of the stiffnesses of both springs.
In practical terms, this means the car rolls over bumps much more stably, increasing efficiency in corners and under braking. The system also ensures better tire wear and improved traction on rough terrain.
It also lowers the center of gravity during lateral and longitudinal acceleration.
